PARENTING IN THE COMMUNITY - Exploring the Practitioners Task Bristol Conference 2011

Following the discussion and interest generated from Annie Oliver's workshop at Bristol's annual parenting conference, I am hoping to breathe life into this blog with the aim of encouraging practitioners to log examples of Parent Abuse in their work (ensuring these are anonymised and permission sought from victim).   One of the key messages that came out of that workshop was the need to distinguish between Parent Abuse and DVA.  In the latter we focus on helping victim to separate from perpetrator.  In cases of Parent Abuse we need to support parents to re-attach with their children.

Meanwhile another plug for Helen Bonnick's Holes in the Wall blog - http://holesinthewall.co.uk/ bang up to date with an update on the recent Respect conference held in partnership with Nottingham Domestic Violence Forum and links to the Family & Parenting Institute and a series of 32 essays on pareting in relation to the recent riots, the modern pressures on parenting and the implications for parenting policy. http://www.familyandparenting.org/Parenting policyITY—Exploring the Practitioner’s task
